What is is about email subject lines that read...

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! DO NOT DELETE!!!

I sit there looking at the email in the inbox, hand on mouse,
arrow hovering over the delete button...

Blatant propaganda like that makes me always relish the delete key as well. Anything that overuses exclamation points like that...

All caps is a big no no. It's impolite to yell in the subject line. It's like a telemarketer calling your home and beginning the conversation at the top of their lungs saying, "WAIT! DON'T HANG UP!! THIS IS IMPORTANT!"

Of course, if that happened, I might actually think it's a life-threatening situation.

Not a bad ploy.

I recently heard a voice clip of a guy that pranks telemarketers. He records his phone conversations at home. He made a poor telemarketer believe that he had called a crime scene, and the guy he was trying to reach had been brutally murdered. Then he started asking all kinds of questions of the telemarketer, who really bought the whole thing. Pretty funny.
